This is where Olaplex’s patented technology comes in. It’s designed to rebuild chemical bonds in the hair known as disulphide. Naturally curly and textured hair contains many more disulphide bonds than straight hair and break when hair No.1 is a solution-based treatment that works to repair damaged hair. It’s a concentrated first step that hairdressers use to lessen the unwanted effects of chemical dyeing such as brittleness and breakage. It can also be added to glosses and toners. Olaplex No.2 Bond Perfector This bond builder is used before shampoo (and often in conjunction with Olaplex No. 0) to repair broken disulfide bonds and leave hair stronger than before. Aldi recently brought out its range called Bonded, which comes under the brand’s beauty line Lacura. It works to repair hair strands using what Revolution calls a triple molecular weight protein cascade system. This infuses the hair shaft with protein to help repair bonds. Image: Revolution

The star ingredient is jojoba oil, and it also has other beneficial oils like chaga mushroom oil and safflower seed oil. I can’t remember a time when Olaplex wasn’t in my life; even as a financially struggling student, I managed to budget in my fix. So good and hard-working, it was never ever left in the communal bathroom for my housemates to steal. Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector really started the craze for the Olaplex haircare products because it’s the closest thing you can buy to use at home to the in-salon Olaplex treatment. If you’re not too fussed about Olaplex’s patented bonding technology and just want a nice hair oil to make your hair look good, this is a great Olaplex oil alternative. These Olaplex dupes and alternatives rival Olaplex’s claim that they actively repair hair damage and restore the hair’s strongest bonds to leave it in much better condition. OLAPLEX was created by Dean Christal in his family’s Santa Barbara home garage. Coming from a family of hair experts, Christal worked with scientists to discover the brand’s signature ingredient – Bis-Aminopropyl-Diglycol Dimaleate – which transforms the quality of tresses’ textures, colour and overall strength. This home-grown idea has since evolved to become one of the biggest names in the hair and beauty business – now selling millions of products every year. The overall internal structure resembles ladders that have been twisted into a shape resembling a multi-fiber cable called microfibrils. These then combine to form macrofibrils which are contained in the cortex. These “cables” stay in alignment, resisting twisting and bending, as a result of disulfide bonds. They are held together in the cortex with a microcellular cement that also contains an abundance of disulfide bonds. If you want to try them when they’re next available, hurry to your nearest Aldi store before they sell out. OLAPLEX 4 AND 5 DUPES It also claims to shorten blow drying time but I did not notice any difference in drying time when using this product.

Kelly Macedo is a hairstylist and the owner of Interior Hair in Los Feliz, California. Her specialties include precision haircuts with a focus on bangs, face-framing bobs, pixie cuts, lived-in layers, and enhancing her clients’ natural textures. The finish that it leaves in your hair is so similar to that of Olaplex 7. It’s a lightweight oil which leaves hair nourished and shiny, and a lot smoother looking. By now, many of us own at least one of the best Olaplex products for hair-related damage control. Chances are you've already tried out the brand's biggest claim to fame, the No. 3 Hair Repair Perfector. This fan-favorite hair product is known for restorative properties that repair damaged or broken bonds. Of course it contains Olaplex’s famous bond-building technology and at the same time this lightweight, silicone-free serum gives you protection from both heat and pollution (thanks to the addition of antioxidant-rich Red Algae Extract). Unlike the conditioner you use in the shower, the best leave-in conditioners – whether you opt for a leave in conditioner spray or cream – aren't meant to be rinsed away. As such, they'll be absorbed by your hair over a longer period of time, leaving it looking – and feeling – more hydrated. Any hair type can benefit from using a multitasking leave-in hair treatment, from fine her to coily hair, because different formulas target different hair concerns. Here's everything you need to know.

Much of the buzz also comes from its ability to protect your hair from the damage associated with harsh bleach, such as breakage and brittleness, before it happens. A study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology discovered that essential fatty acids and antioxidants lead to improvements in hair growth and density. the Olaplex No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment can help you build the silky hair you’re looking for, whether it’s curly or straight. There are also a few new Olaplex launches outside of the treatment realm that have been met with fanfare, including the new volumising mist and lash serum. So, here's a run-down of all the different products. Olaplex No.1 Bond Multiplier

How often should I use Olaplex No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment?

Typically, my hair is pretty frizzy and the ends start to show signs of breakage after a couple of months. However, my hair definitely felt better for much longer with the Olaplex No. 3. Even after four or five months, it was feeling like I had just walked out of the salon. I have personally used this mask a lot and while there’s nothing to dislike about it, I get better results from lots of other cheaper hair masks. For me, Olaplex 8 did not leave my hair much softer than before, no more shiny and there was no wow factor. However, it is a decent mask and if you are actively working on repairing damaged hair this is a good choice. The formulas are powered by a compound called bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate (rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?) which fuses compromised bonds that have been damaged by chemicals, thermal heat, or mechanical factors like vigorous brushing. is due to its wide spectrum of kink being prone to breakage, frizz and limping when coloured, relaxed or silk pressed. Even the most protective hairstyles like box braids & weaves can cause stress to its elasticity and disrupt its Cleverly, it seeks out the broken bonds that may have been missed in step one and gets busy repairing them. See No.2 as a more concentrated version of No.3 (more on that to come), but not quite as punchy as No.1. Olaplex No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment
