The heads of the studs on mine were welded to the cat flanges- from the quality of the weld, I'd say it was factory, as it was VERY clean. I fitted the talkwrench style clamps and they only made the issue worse by snapping off the pipe in this location. This repair kit will allow you to grind off the old top hat section and remove the damaged flange and re-weld the new stainless steel top hat section on.
